PASTORAL CARE
MEANING
Pastoral care is a virtue that runs through all we do in the school and it is directed towards the success, safety, happiness, right counsel and welfare of each student and the integrity of the school community at large.
OUR COMMITMENT
We give all it takes to safeguard and promote your child’s care and to provide pastoral care within the standard required by law in all circumstances. We acknowledge and respect your child’s human rights and freedom which must be within the ambit of the law; rules of our school community and the rights and freedom of others.
COMPLAINTS
Any question, complaints, concern of any kind must be chaneled to the management as soon as practicable.
ETHOS
The ethos of this school is to foster good relationship between members of staff and students. Bullying, harassment, victimization and discrimination are not tolerated. The school and its staff will act fairly in relation to matters involving students, parents and we expect same from students and parents in relation to the school.
PHYSICAL CONTACT
Parents give their consent to such physical contacts as may be accorded with good practice appropriate for teaching and instruction and for providing comfort to a student in distress or to maintain safety and good order, or in connection with the contact sports and other activities as part of the normal school and co-curricular activities.
CONFIDENTIALITY
In some cases, teachers and other employees of the school may need to be informed of any particular vulnerability a student may have. The school reserves the right to monitor the students for the purpose of ensuring compliance with the school rules.
LEAVING SCHOOL PREMISES
We will do all that is necessary to ensure that your child remains in the care of the school throughout the duration of a term (boarders) and within the operating daily hours for day students or extended period but we cannot accept responsibility for the pupil if they leave school premises (breech of school rules)
ABSENCE
The school must be duly informed of any reason why your child should be absent from school. The school expects your child/ward 100% attendance during the full term’s duration. However, in the event of any exceptional circumstances, prior permission of the Head is required.
EDUCATION GUARDIANS
A pupil of any age whose parents are resident outside the Federal Republic of Nigeria must have an education guardian in Nigeria who can and has been given authority to act on behalf of the parents in all respects and to whom the school can apply for authorization when necessary. The school cannot accept responsibility during half term or during term holidays for pupils whose parents are resident abroad or outside Oyo State. The parents and guardians in this category must make holiday arrangements, including travel to and from the school well in advance. The responsibility for choosing an appropriate education guardian rest solely with the parents.
SCHOOL PUBLICATIONS
From time to time the school will issue press releases and publications which include newsletters, marketing materials and web sites updates. Such publications may include images of pupils. Consent for a pupil’s image and name to be used by the school will be deemed to have been given unless parents write to the Head stating that they do not wish the image of their child to appear in any school publication.
TRANSPORT
Our tested and trusted drivers take our students in and out of town with the prior consent of their parents at the payment for such service(payment here signify consent).
PUPIL'S PERSONAL PROPERTY
Students are responsible for the security and safe use of all their personal properties and parents are responsible for ensuring that all such property is clearly marked for proper identification. Only items in the to-bring-list authorized by the school are allowed to be brought to the school (For hostel students).
DISCLOSURES
Parents as a matter of duty should disclose to the school in confidence any known medical condition, health problem or allergies affecting the student under our care. They should also disclose any history of learning challenge/difficulty on the part of the student or any member of his/her immediate family, any disability/special educational need or any behavioural, emotional, family circumstances or court order which might affect the student’s welfare, or happiness, or any concerns about the student’s safety. If you have cause concerning a matter of safety, care, discipline or progress of your child/ward, you must inform the school immediately for instant action. The school cannot be held responsible for failing to address a situation that the school is not privy to. The Head needs to be aware of any matters that are relevant to the student’s safety and security. The Head must therefore be notified in writing immediately of any court orders or situations of risk in relation to the pupil for whom any special safety precautions may be needed.
